Flashback Friday…good ol’ babe, 2003

The old man (with his family) has been an avid hunter and sportsmen all his life. Any chance to get out and shoot is his idea of quite a good time. Just after the old man and I got settled into our house, his little brother broke it off with a gal he had been dating for quite some time. To say he was a heartsick puppy would be putting it mild. Some of the best times we can remember with the old man’s brother were while we were entertaining his broken heart.

The boys...
The boys…

This trip was out by a local trap club. The boys took old babe. She was one of the ugliest dogs that you had ever seen, but she had a heart of gold.

Babe the dog.
Babe the dog.

It sure was cold, but they had a great day hunting birds with an old family friend. We took lots of time to be with the old mans brother and it was worth every second. His heart eventually healed, and now we hardly ever see him. I know that the time they spent together was well worth it! You can never spend enough time with the ones you love…you never know how long you have together.

  1. Ugly dogs? I didn’t think the dog was all that bad. Anyway, I do have to comment on that last line. “You can never spend enough time with the ones you love…you never know how long you have together.” So true, so true.
